I know I shouldn’t be too surprised, but you’d think there would be some honor among thieves. Omgwtfnzbs certainly doesn’t.
Grabbing the cash and running is bad enough, but keep an eye on your statements in case something worse happened.
***UPDATE: Seems as though he might have set up shop at a new domain. http://omgwtfnzbs.org/

NewzNab right out of the box!
This turnkey project should help get you up and running quickly. Hopefully I can play with it this week.
nzbX.co is quite the stand out right now. The owner has multiple EC2 instances running the frontends of his indexer, and seems to be coding the site near around the clock. Adding features left and right. Including Sickbeard integration and even being able to upvote comments. It’s a pretty massive undertaking for just a single person. Not to mention the monetary resources to run it all, for free no less.
nzbX.co is completely free, for now anyways. Yet is bound to be the next high profile public indexer. Running Amazon AWS servers would seemingly put a big DMCA target on your back, but who knows. I’d love for this site to work, but I have my doubts. Already he’s had his paypal account suspended. Not even a week in and already there is a little heat. Nonetheless, I really want this site to work out. Everyone should read the nzbX.co dev blog.
PrivNZB has gone the other route. Smaller server running straight NewzNab. But they’re charging $30 for VIP. Granted, that indexer only plans on serving maybe a few hundred people. And who wouldn’t want to be apart of a very secretive private indexer. Being a smaller target, they’re not likely to attract a lot of attention. But $30 is a lot, especially for something so new. I’m not sure if any NewzNab site is worth $30 when there are still others that are cheaper or free. But I know a lot of you don’t have a lot of choices and worry about the future.
Feeling all alone in this crazy post-NZBMatrix world? Wanting to reconnect with your old friends? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! A refugee forum has been set up on Matrix.nux.sx. It’s still kind of small, hopefully more people will start to wander in.
They also have IRC up at #NZBMatrix.chat on p2p-network.net
I can’t vouch for the quality of these, but better than nothing.
NZBx.co - No registration required. Pretty spartan and no categories. Reddit Thread for more development information.
NZB-SA - Haven’t signed up myself, but commenters seem to like it.
Usenet-Crawler - NewzNab Index with open registrations. 1,000 API hits a day.
NZBZombie – New NewzNab site but open registration.
privNZB - Open registration until the end of the year. Thread with more information. Closed registration. $30 to have VIP.
NZBFinder – $10 gets VIP with 5,000 API hits
nzbTV.net – Basic NewzNab site
Nzbs2Go – Open registration
NZB7 – Open registration
MuttNZB – Open registration
FileSharingTalk NZB Kind of an old but not very well known NZB forum. Server is a little spotty, but still good.
NZBgeek – Forums based NZB indexer.
newzNZB - New, similar to NZBx.co. Broken, but still taking VIP donations.
NZBsRus They apparently still up. Only available for $9.99 for VIP in BitCoins. Might want to try the ones above first. Now VIP only. $12 in BitCoins.
NZBRoyalty - Not too bad for an NZB forum. They like to password a lot of their uploads, and they’ll disable your account if you never contribute. Registrations closed by admin.
Remember, account hoarding is key for the long term.
And if you know of any others, please let me know.
Look NZBMatrix was bad for the community. No way around that. A lot of the DMCA takedown problems Usenet was having was specifically due to NZBMatrix. They knew it, and so did just about everyone else. But NZBMatrix isn’t the root problem. It’s the actual posts.
Newznab is the best way forward. It’s fairly easy to run, and you can get it set up in a single afternoon. Instead of having a few big NZB indexers, we’re starting to see smaller community projects. A single small Newznab site with only a few hundred users is much less of a target than a giant such as NZBMatrix.
Only, we could all have the most reliable indexers, and we could still be facing DMCA problems. I don’t think we’re quite at the point of being able to have community run Usenet servers. I wish we were, but even a low retention server would still be insanely expensive.
The big problem is the Usenet Providers themselves. US providers have to takedown posts, or they’ll become liable. No way around it. Would be better if they could drag their feet a bit. Or make the requester to jump through more hoops than simply emailing in the NZB.
At least more people are already moving towards the NL providers, but they aren’t 100% immune either. But we still have the posts themselves being the problem. Obfuscation isn’t a real answer, since that is bad for the community in general. It could be made to work, but more creative people than me will have to figure it out.
Seems as though NZB.su accidently opened up registrations last night, and too many of you got in. Welp, some of you might get removed. If you already had your account pruned, at least you know why.
The rest of you lucky ones. I’d make sure you get VIP as soon as NZB.su opens up payments again.
Edit: If you still have your free account. Congratulations, looks like you’re safe for now. They’re all done pruning accounts.
NZBs.in has open registration, but they’re getting slammed hard.
Only a matter of time before they close registration, so hurry.

I know everyone is frantically looking for invites right now. But there are going to be very few invites given out. All the major indexers have manually zeroed out all of invites for their members. Obviously, the huge wave of NZBMatrix refugees is making things difficult.
I wouldn’t give up hope, you may have some success in their IRC channels. But for now, you guys should rely on the header searches and the header search method I outlined in the previous post.
I know quite a few people will be rejoicing, but there will also be the refugees. For a while, many people viewed NZBMatrix as poisonous to the NZB community. Merely because copyright trolls liked to use it too for takedowns.
If you’re here, and a refugee, you already know what indexers you need to get on. So it’s just a matter of joining IRC or some forums and trying to network. But until you can find an invite or NZB.su or DogNZB open up registrations.
But there is one alternatives. Simply, welcome to the world of searching headers.
At this point two sites should be your friend. Binsearch.info and Orlydb.
Find the release name on Orlydb and then search that exact string on Binsearch. Make sure that the file sizes match up and you should be good to go.
In addition, NZBClub and NZBIndex should also be used in conjunction with Orlydb.
