The End of NZBMatrix

December 9, 2012  |  NZB Indexers

I know quite a few people will be rejoicing, but there will also be the refugees. For a while, many people viewed NZBMatrix as poisonous to the NZB community. Merely because copyright trolls liked to use it too for takedowns.

If you’re here, and a refugee, you already know what indexers you need to get on. So it’s just a matter of joining IRC or some forums and trying to network. But until you can find an invite or NZB.su or DogNZB open up registrations.

But there is one alternatives. Simply, welcome to the world of searching headers.

At this point two sites should be your friend. Binsearch.info and Orlydb.

Find the release name on Orlydb and then search that exact string on Binsearch. Make sure that the file sizes match up and you should be good to go.

In addition, NZBClub and NZBIndex should also be used in conjunction with Orlydb.

  1. Thanks. Only got (back) into usenet a week ago and it appears I picked the wrong indexer.

Predb.me has live updates and provides a link to Binsearch for each item. Seems good. Any reason to still favor Orlydb over it?

  2. http://predb.me is actually better than orlydb because you can add all your favorite indexers to the list (saved in the form of a cookie), makes for much better searching.

  3. Geronimo San Pablo

Thanks, this is good, useful info!

  4. A refugee for sure. Wow, no notice, just bang gone. And everyone closes there doors for the flood! Not new to binsearch that is for sure.
Just checking out PreDB.me, cool but it links to nzbindex.nl and I would prefer it to link to binsearch but can’t seem to change any values in the options screen…

    Manually edit the cookie?

NZB would have shown up for most TV shows by now at Matrix but binsearch and nzbindex either have nothing or just parts of the collections. No NZB’s. Definitely not as quick as the service.

Got to find a Matrix equal, they were awesome, well at least the service was.

  5. when i started using the matrix in 2005 it was barely used, about 5 forums posts a week were made, to the five made every minute today, tbh i new this day would come, when usnet became more acceciable and alot of people came over from torrents it then became public enemy number one, and was in the spotlight. the problem i have now is, were all in this boat, if all registrations have been closed at these other sites, how are we supposed to get in?

will registration ever be actaully opened again? not all of us have the option of knowing someone for an invite, tbh i wish the matirx could have give us a few hours notice before shutting down completly, there a lot of freinds whos emails ive lost over the years that i cant get in touch with again, a real shame

    regards

  6. Really pity for NZBmatrix, it was a really good site!! I ask myself if they tried to explain that usenet indexer are not responsible for the content, they just index it. Also they didn’t gave any own opportunity to download it. Very strange why they didn’t fight!

  7. Well, you have to look at the concept I think. Join and pay a one time fee of $10. I joined years and years ago for $10! How many new members were joining that supported their massive member base? They have to provide the servers, bandwidth and maintenance costs but since their is no on-going revenue stream I don’t see how the business model could support it.

Say 30,000 members, they make $300,000 then have to support those users with costs for “ever”. Supposedly they got charged at by a law firm representing some of the most powerful companies in the world, and they are a little piracy company that have already made there money. Cutting bait is the easy answer.

It is a shame, nobody used to know about USENET.

  8. The reason that most of these sites will continue to close is that organisations such as PayPal are running scared of the big corporate movie machine and refusing to process sales for these sites, no revenue stream no business!
The most worrying part of this is that Matrix and others have never had a day in court, the term Innocent until proven guilty does not apply to these companies, they have a cease and desist order placed on them by the MPAA and there is no point in fighting it because they have the power and the resources to make sure that no one would dare stand against them, the last people that tried (Newzbin) were summarily executed (in the business sense that is), they have Politicians in their pockets and the most Powerful law makers on Speed Dial.
The Sanitation of the Web has begun, next comes the sensorship

  9. At the moment there is a fair amount of broken/corrupted info from binsearch, i don’t know if this is a problem with their site indexer or not, most info is there using a manual plough through headers or alternative search method.

Finally after over 12yrs with a main/block provider a lot of trial/testing i believe i have found some decent new providers.. sorry but good riddance to nzbmatrix and their ilk, these sites attract way to much attention. The OP idea’s work fine and using manual header search.

    Thom.

  10. I’ve found a decent alternative for movies: movieboot.com offers both torrents and NZB and it seems that they are working on RSS feeds (so it says on the registration page).

  11. We are giving out invites to smackdownonyou.com as of now, limited time

  12. This is one is also pretty sleek

  13. I was recommended this website by my cousin. I am not sure whether this post is written by him as no
one else know such detailed about my problem. You’re wonderful! Thanks!
