nzbX.co is quite the stand out right now. The owner has multiple EC2 instances running the frontends of his indexer, and seems to be coding the site near around the clock. Adding features left and right. Including Sickbeard integration and even being able to upvote comments. It’s a pretty massive undertaking for just a single person. Not to mention the monetary resources to run it all, for free no less.
nzbX.co is completely free, for now anyways. Yet is bound to be the next high profile public indexer. Running Amazon AWS servers would seemingly put a big DMCA target on your back, but who knows. I’d love for this site to work, but I have my doubts. Already he’s had his paypal account suspended. Not even a week in and already there is a little heat. Nonetheless, I really want this site to work out. Everyone should read the nzbX.co dev blog.
PrivNZB has gone the other route. Smaller server running straight NewzNab. But they’re charging $30 for VIP. Granted, that indexer only plans on serving maybe a few hundred people. And who wouldn’t want to be apart of a very secretive private indexer. Being a smaller target, they’re not likely to attract a lot of attention. But $30 is a lot, especially for something so new. I’m not sure if any NewzNab site is worth $30 when there are still others that are cheaper or free. But I know a lot of you don’t have a lot of choices and worry about the future.
I checked out privnzb, it is an invite only site. I have been using usenet for 20 plus years but do not talk with a great deal of other people online about the subject. I try to keep a low profile, how does someone go about getting an invite. there does not seam to be any contact info for them.
I did register with privNZB, but won’t be paying the $30 VIP charge, it’s too high an initial outlay for me, at the same time I can understand the guy’s philosophy as to why he’s charging $30. You can still get in if you read his thread, just be aware that eventually the web page will disappear altogether, it will be API only.

An alternative is djp’s new site which is now up and running, I paid a $10 fee to receive an invitation without even seeing the web site simply because this guy seems dedicated into making it the next NzbMatrix. The only way to register is by invitation, to get one you send an email to [email protected] with “index me” in the subject box of the email, you get an email back with instructions on how to join, the fee is $10. Read his 60 page thread on the link below, you’ll notice both threads are on Sickbeard forums and sometimes posts go into the wrong threads, just know that privNZB and DJP’s new site (you’ll find out what it’s called in his email), are 2 different NZB Indexing sites

I ran a usenet server in the early 90s. I had a T1 then a high end ADSL line and a satlite dish from cidara for down loading the news feeds with the fill coming over the hard line.
I was off timing wise, too ahead of the market and had to close it after 3 years but I understand the nuts and bolts, more than most. I have an Idea…. If others are intrested, I am proposing using NewzNab to garner the nzb data over a large network of people then having them feed the data to a website that just host the date and does not run NewzNab at all one it. For those who do not know there are servers in the world, in countries that do not care about US laws with a low cost for running a basic web site. It cost a good deal of money to run a server with NewzNab because of the VPS requirments. but with people running them privately at home on server they make but never putting the data on there own web page but contrbuting to a group effort. Making this the best way that I can think of to take this out of the hands of the internet bullies.
ADSL hadn’t yet been invented in the early 90s.
sorry. Your right. I looked up my articles of incorporation it was 06/11/1998 could have sworn it was before that. Before I had a ADSL line, I had a T1 line at turned out to be slow. I was going to go to a T3 line but ADSL came out in my area with speeds much high than a T3 for a fraction of the cost.
I’d like to point out that I expected the Paypal account to last less than a week, I wanted to test a theory.
Anyway, I have no concerns on the monetary side; and service clusters will be going up in many other places other than Amazon AWS.
It’ll work out, I have my ways

I wish you the best of luck. Out of all the new ones, nzbX is my favorite.
Good luck with nzbX.co, I’m sending you a pint mate, soon as I figure out the bit coins thing.
As a noob refugee, just wanted to say thank you for these recent posts.
I like nzbx.co too, but actually no releses in TV.
But people must understand, there is no lifetime subscription for 10$. i like much more monthly payments, no donations. If the service runs, you pay for it, if not, not. So the owners must keep alive the service, if they want to have money. Other solution is completely free, and none complains, if the service goes offline…
